- Anyone who remotely knows me knows that I love the Silent Hill series of games (well, except for Part 4...that didn't happen...ugh) and I'm a huge, huge fan of urban/modern ruins. I also love movies like "Seven" and "Session 9" so as you can see this game is clearly a no-brainer for me. I knew going into the experience that even if the gameplay was horrid (which it's not...it's good!) I'd still stick through it just to see the next lovingly rendered bump mapped paint peeling water stained wall of filth.
- How strange is it that the watershed moment in videogame artificial intelligence came in the first Half Life when the enemies announced their actions to the player? Were the marines smarter for doing this? Actually, no, if you were actually in the middle of a combat situation the most retarded thing you could do would be to actually inform your enemy of your intent.
- I understand that in a game like Oblivion you don't want it to automatically save all the time. You're making crucial decisions about your path in that game that you may want to change at a later date. Hence, saving all the time might not always be a good thing. But I'll tell you this. I want Gears to save early, and save often.
- Naming a game "Dodge that Anvil" is like naming a movie...well, "Snakes on a Plane." Which, yes, I am dying to see.
- What did the voices of the AI do for the player's experience? It clarified it. Suddenly, by hooking up a voice that said "Flank Him" or "Grenade" followed by that actual action the player was able to understand what the enemies' intent was. And thus, the foes came to life and the game was more obvious. More fun. More... clear.
- After seeing the rush of gamers in the desert at Zero Hour and then this Chantal was like "What the hell?" and I reminded her "This is geek love, babe. This is what it's all about." Exposing this side of the gaming world to someone who has seen relatively little of it is both eye opening and amusing at the same time.
- Relationships are like cell phone providers. None are perfect. You just find one that works most of the time and doesn't flake out on you when you need it most.
- I hope that people see that we're people, we're cool. We have cool jobs and we have unique lives. I hope that's revealed.
- My most awkward moment was when I broke up with my girlfriend damn near on camera. We've been together for a year, and I had so much on my plate, especially getting this game ready or E3. We broke up, and we made up. I told her how much she meant to me, and that I needed her at the show, by my side, and how much that meant to me, and we got back together.
